The significance is that Jesus only has 900 years left of his 1000 year reign and he hasn't done much with the 100 years he's been reigning.

Let's Say 1914 Was The Establishment of God's Kingdom....what is the significance?
by minimus inas hillary clinton might say, what difference does it make???.
even if god's kingdom was established in 1914, why is that such a big deal?
other than unprovable actions in heaven, what can jws say is the significance of it all...with a straight face?.

This weeks #2 & #3 talk on homosexuality
by granada35 inafter a one year sucessful fade and no longer associated with any congreation, i was visiting my sister this week (who goes to the meeting to please her husband for now; i am slowly planting seeds though) and they decided to year this weeks midweek meeting via the telephone.
since i was a guest in her house, i sat with them in the living room to hear the meeting.
to my surprise (especially growing up as a gay jw with still alot of anger in my heart over how i was treated), the talks 2 and 3 where on, of course, homosexualiy.

Separation of Powers
I have said this before on another topic for those that have a real problem with "the gays" as my MIL calls them.
If you can tell me why you are attracted to blondes over brunettes, then tell me.
If you can tell me why you are attracted to one body type over another, then tell me.
If you can tell me why you are attracted to the color red over the color blue, then tell me.
If you can tell me, then you probably don't have any issue with "the gays" (thanks MIL...hilarious) because you realize that most attraction is chemically based and functions on a cerebral level that you have no real control over.
If you can't, then you are just plain ignorant and a bigot... i.e. " a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions." (Webster's)

Separation of Powers
Thanks for your comments, I can see the wisdom and depth of perspective in each. I have read similar threads, but with all the newbies floating around this board, just wanted to know.
I know for myself, it was a perfect storm of tragedy, marginalization, insincerity, and absurd adjustments that were "evidently" the truth all along, which, of course, meant that everything believed prior to that was essentially apostasy to the real "truth." God! what foolishness!

@granada35
I have found that people who excessively condemn anything are hiding something, similar to the American Beauty experience.
I have been in congregations where the zealot against drinking was a drunk, the zealot against pornography was an Internet freak, and the zealot against all things "gay" was a closet homosexual.

Well, according to the ORG...you are the spiritual "head" of the family, unless of course the ORG says something that conflicts with your headship, then everything you say is just drivel.

see the 10/17/2014 post.. coupled with the scandals of the megachurches lately many christians are asking questions for the first time on how things have gotten this way and where is the holy spirit to protect the church and people.. .

A question for my friends in the USA about cowboys.
by punkofnice inas a kid growing up in the uk we used to play 'cowboys and indians' and watch high chaparal and bonanza along with other cowboy films.
later, in the 70's kung fu would be shown with caine going through the 'old west'.
we even had a chocolate bar that was marketed with a 'cowboy' theme...milky bar.. as far as i know the 'wild west' as shown on tvdidn't actually exist.. are there people that believe it did?.

Yes, there are cowboys in the US. Everything west of the grand Mississippi River in the early 1800's was unchartered and only the adventurous would dare leave the relative security of the colonies and those "territories" that, although not States, were up-and-coming with settlements and industry. So, the adventurous and those who had embraced the ideals of Manifest Destiny would cross the river in search of fortune, or at least a little plot of ground that they could call their own.
With little in the way of protections, the "settler" was faced with either retaliation from Indians whose land they were encroaching on, meaning "robbing the resources" that belonged to the Indian nation, or bands of brigands whos capitalized on the lack of protection and nominal numbers of any encampment.
Some of these encampments grew into towns, some of these settlers founded huge businesses of cattle and other livestock to provide food and raw material like wool and leather to the ever-growing United States. Those who had the affinity for vast open ranges and the wear-with-all to confront the open country became the cowboys of legend. They were far from the cowboys you would see on TV though. They were a rough a tumble bunch, and although some became very good with a gun, typically the Colt revolver, very few ever gained notariety for being gunslingers. Most were simply workers that lived and died on the range.
Today, there are still those revered men and women who work the range, ride their horses, and wield a rifle along with their napsack tied to the saddle. The rifle is probably not an old Winchester, more likely a Reimngton .30-06 with a scope capable of shooting a wolf or coyote at a few hundred yards. Little issues exist now between cowboys and Indians, most Indians have had their lands stolen by the Manifest Destiny playbook and have been confined to tribal lands called Reservations, which are little more than a concession given by the US for having pillaged their nation.
There are some good history books replete with accurate depictions of cowboys and Indians.....
